Wearing hair extensions long-term?

I'm a white female with about two teaspoons of real hair. I'm currently working with a stylist who uses the Hairdreams (fusion) method of applying extensions. She's got years of experience and has worn them herself for years with no problems. I know this will be pricey but I've pretty much decided that I'm going to do this. I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there who's done this long term. I know Black women wear weaves for extended periods of time, but I'm thinking specifically of White women. I have the limpest, most blah hair in the world and once I get the extensions put in, I doubt if I'll want to go back to my old look! :) Anyone out there that can share? Thanks ladies! :)

ANYBODY INCLUDING BLACKS SHOULD NOT WEAR EXTENSIONS FOR A LONG TIME. YOUR HAIR HAS TO BREATHE AND RELAX. WEARING EXTENSIONS FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME CAN BE VERY DAMAGING. MOST BLACK WOMEN CONTINUE TO WEAR IT BECAUSE THIER HAIR IS ALREADY DAMAGED AND IT DOESNT MATTER TO THEM ANYMORE JUST AS LONG AS THIER HAIR LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING.ITS NICE FOR A WHILE BUT THE HAIR HAS TO BREATHE

Hey adding hair for a natural look is great. There is nothing wrong with wigs and weaves or fusions which is becoming really popular now a days. I am just wondering did your stylist educate you on fusinons how to take care of them and how to remove them? They are pricey but if you can afford it go for it and go for a natuarl look

Go for it. I am black and i want to let you know that if you get fusions be sure to let your stylist remove them. It takes a special solution to remove them that requires proffesional hands. Just be sure to correctly care for your hair. Also a cosmetologist myself.

Small hair extensions?

Well, my friend Dustin came to school one day with a pink streak in his hair. In class later, I noticed that it wasn't there anymore. Then I saw him with this little clip with 3-4 inch long pink hair attached to it. He clipped it into his hair and covered it up with his original hair, and it looked so real. Is there any store that I can get it at, thats NOT online? I only want simple short length extensions that I can use for a hairstyle that I want (Which would take until July to grow out). I live in Fort McMurray, so there isn't much selection. I can list a few stores, since I can't go there right now.

San Francisco

Claire's

Wal Mart

Zellers

...Those are all the ones I can think of, so...If anyone knows if any of these stores carry them, or know of any others, don't hesitate to say so. ^.^

I want specific hair extensions...but I can't find any...help!!!?

I've read the pros and cons and decided I want synthetic hair extensions (please don't try to convince me otherwise just help me out). The thing is I'd feel better getting them put in at the salon. I researched fibre and that sounded good. I also want those because I want 30 inch extensions and with human hair its too heavy and they wont do it, and its much more expensive. But thats just the problem! All the salons are of course trying to make money and I can't find any that sell synthetic ones! I live in Ohio. Can anyone tell me how to find a place that can give me synthetic hair extensions, but isn't such a run down cheap place that I might walk out with lice? Please help!!!

I THINK THAT THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS MAKE YOUR OWN. BUT THEY WOULD BE CLIP ONS WHICH LAST LONGER. I MADE MY OWN AND THEY LASTED ME FOR MORE THAN 6 MONTHS. I SIMPLY BOUGHT THEM AT THE STORE WHERE THEY SELL HAIR PIECES AND I BOUGHT THE CLIPS AND SEWED THEM ON.

you could go to sallys and apply yourself.. but don't be like me and use hot glue.. because I bought the clips there and the clips were pissing me off.. but it is cheap there

theres a company called Batik they sell 30 inch hair extensions i know they definatly have it in michigan because i use the 30 inch ones but i dont go to a salon. It depends how you want the hair attached also many african american run salons will put them in for 100$

Can hair extensions help your hair grow?

If you get it sewn in, and don't maintain it correctly, or leave it in too long, it will cause your hair to mat up and you'll have to get it cut off.

Can hair extensions help your hair grow?

No they can't, but instead they just make the appearance that you haev longer and fuller hair. But it cant actually make your hair grow faster.

Can hair extensions help your hair grow?

no its not real hair

Can hair extensions help your hair grow?

Depending on how it is put into you own hair- sew or glue- it can really damage your hair
